My name is Adrian Caulfield. I am a first year graduate student in the Computer Science department at the University of California, San Diego. My current research interests are focused on terabyte-scale flash memory systems and possible applications.
I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Computer Science and minor in Mathematics in 2007. While at the UW I was involved in research with the Research Accelerator for Multiple Processors (RAMP) under the supervision of Mark Oskin.
Over the the Summers of 2006 and 2007 I interned at Microsoft in Seattle. I was part of the Subscription and Commerce group which is responsible for developing a payment and subscription processing platform. The group also developed and maintains the Microsoft Points system used by Xbox and Zune for handling micro-payments.
Before enrolling at the University of Washington, I attended San Clemente High School, in San Clemente, California. I graduated in June 2004 as a Valedictorian receiving an International Baccalaureate diploma. During my tenure there, I served on the school Site Improvement Program council, assisted in maintaining and developing technology use throughout the school and developed both the school's website and an Alumnni Site which I still maintain today. I also completed several short video production projects for the principal, Dr. Charles Hinman, one of which was widely distributed, even reaching the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
I was born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. I have an older brother, Tristan, who graduated from the University of Bath, England, with a B.S. in Computer Science, in 2004. My parents were both born and raised in England, but have lived in the United States for over twenty years. In late 2002, my parents separated and divorced some years later. My mother now lives in Lacey, Washington. My hobbies include computer programming, robotics, rock climbing, camping, photography and bowling; although I find almost everything interesting. I'm a very inquisitive person, I love to take things apart and figure out how they work. I can be reached at my email address: acaulie@cs.ucsd.edu
